Switching System Specifications

Switching system specifications are not to be confused with relay specifications. Although the relay may be the principle factor determining specification, other factors may also influence the switching system performance. The performance is determined by the weakest link in the design, it could be the tracking or wiring system, the connectors used (both internal and external) or a combination of individual factors (for example capacitive loading on hot switching capacity or bandwidth).

What happens to the BW of a switching system when the impedance is not 50 Ohms

The hot switching capacity of a switching system is not just dependent on the relays used

Cold switch ratings can be higher than hot switch relays

The usable BW of a crosspoint matrix is influenced by a variety of factors
