Low-Thermal EMF LXI Matrices

Pickering low-thermal EMF LXI matrices offer excellent thermal stability and substantially reduced thermal EMF figures when compared to a conventional switching matrix. Typical applications include signal routing in automatic test equipment, selecting thermocouple inputs, switching amplifier gain circuits and high accuracy DC microvolt measurements.

Our LXI Low Thermal EMF Matrices are available in two types:

  • Low thermal EMF matrix (Model 60-510) - uses ruthenium reed switching for their good low level switching capability and very long life with excellent contact resistance stability and low thermal offset. Can switch up to 150VDC/100VAC with 10W max power.
  • EMR low thermal EMF matrix (Model 60-511) - uses high quality electro-mechanical relays with gold covered contacts. The routing of the switching matrix has been optimized for very low thermal offset. Can switch up to 200VDC/170VAC with 60W max power.

Both versions of the low thermal EMF matrices are designed in accordance with the LXI Standard 1.4 and are supplied in a 2U high, full rack width case with 500mm depth. They are fully programmable via the LAN interface using our generic switch driver. Industry standard (W3C) web browsers can be used to access and change configuration information and provide access to the soft front panels. Both matrices are ideal for applications where a simple start-up process is required and for applications requiring control over large distances.

Select modules are supported by our eBIRST Switching System Test Tools. These tools provide a quick and simple way of finding relay failures within LXI, PCI and PXI switch systems. These matrices are supported by a comprehensive range of  cable and connector accessories.
