Pickering Interfaces have a very extensive PXI product development program - now with over 500 PXI modules – and a rapidly expanding range of LXI products. Many of our PXI modules can be used in an LXI environment by using our LXI Modular Switching chassis. Below are just a few of our recent product introductions. Pickering's mission is to provide our customers with the broadest selection, highest density and lowest cost for advanced functional test applications.
 
PXI Programmable Power Supply - July 2010
Pickering introduces a new PXI Programmable Power Supply. The 41-743 has a single channel capable of providing 2A at output voltages up to 20V and 0.8A up to 48V. The power supply includes remote sense connections to allow load sensing at the end of cables. A voltage monitor and programmable current limit is included and the module supports PXI Triggering as well as external triggering.
PXI USB Switch - June 2010
Pickering has introduced a new 8-channel multiplexer specifically designed for switching USB signals. The 40-737 is suitable for bulk testing USB devices and is compatible with USB1.1 and USB2.0. Each path is designed to be compliant to USB cabling standards with controlled impedance data lines and low impedance power lines.
PCIe to PXI Interface Kit - April 2010
Pickering introduces a new interface for controlling a PXI chassis. The 41-924-001 kit provides a simple solution for connecting modern PCs with PCIe slots to a PXI chassis. The kit contains a single lane PCIe card, a connecting lead and a PXI module for insertion into Slot 1 of any PXI chassis. The 41-924 provides a seamless connection between the PC’s PCIe Bus and the PXI chassis backplane. It is an alternative to the 41-921-001-KIT which uses a PCI slot rather than a PCIe slot in the PC.
PXI 2 Amp Fault Insertion Switch - April 2010
Pickering has introduced a new version of the 40-190 Fault Insertion Switch. The 40-190B is a fault insertion module that increases the number of fault channels from 64 to 74 compared to the 40-190 without compromising the module signal ratings. Like the 40-190, the 40-190B uses a 160 pin DIN41612 which is fully supported by a large range of Pickering Interfaces interconnection accessories.
PXI Terminated RF Multiplexer Modules - April 2010
Pickering introduces two new RF multiplexer modules. The 40-873 and 40-833 are 50 and 75 ohm multiplexers respectively which feature one or two 4:1 multiplexers with terminated inputs in a single PXI slot. They are designed for switching applications up to 3GHz and feature excellent VSWR and low insertion loss.
PXI High Current Solid State Matrix - April 2010
Pickering has expanded its range of PXI high power switching solutions. The 40-555 is a solid state 8x2 matrix in two PXI slots that features 30A current rating and very high inrush current tolerance. It is an excellent solution for high current switching applications such as power supplies where the inrush capability and high current rating ensures reliable operation even under hot switch situations.
PXI SPST Power Relay Module - April 2010
Pickering Interfaces has expanded its 40-160 range of power relay modules with the introduction of the 40-160-003 which supports 20 off SPST 10A relays in a single PXI slot. The module is suited for switching DC signals up 30V and AC voltages to 250V with low path loss and excellent reliability.
 

LXI High Voltage Matrix - February 2010
Pickering has introduced a new LXI switching matrix for high voltage switching applications. Designed to withstand voltages up to 1kV with up to 2A of carry current, the 60-311 provides a dense and cost effective solution for switching high voltages. It is offered in single, dual and triple 75x4 matrix configurations and has X and Y loop-thru connections to simplify matrix expansion. Additionally, X and Y isolation switching is included for disconnecting unused signal paths and preserving bandwidth.

 
 
LXI High Isolation RF Matrix - December 2009
The 60-722 is an LXI conformant 75 ohm RF multiplexer featuring very high isolation and crosstalk performance. Available in single or a dual 12:1 formats the multiplexer has a bandwidth of greater than 1GHz and a typical isolation and crosstalk performance in excess of 100dB.
 
 
LXI RF Matrices - November 2009
Pickering has expanded its range of LXI based RF switching solutions with the introduction of two new matrices. The 60-730 is available in sizes of 32x16, 16x16, 16x8 and 8x8, has an impedance of 75 ohms and a bandwidth of 1GHz. The 60-771 is available in sizes of 32x8, 24x8, 16x8 and 8x8, has an impedance of 50 ohms and a bandwidth of 2.5GHz. Both matrices can be supplied in other configurations and alternative connector types can be fitted to suit the customer's application.
 

PXI 6-Channel Battery Simulator Module - November 2009
Pickering Interfaces has introduced a new battery simulator module with 6-channels suitable for emulating the battery stacks used in electric vehicle propulsion systems. The 41-752 is capable of supplying up to 300mA per channel, and each channel is adjustable from 0V to 7V. A current sink feature is included to simulate a battery under charge where each channel is capable of sinking 100mA. The channels of a module can be connected in series, and multiple modules can be connected in series to create a stack of over 100 channels supported in a single PXI or Modular LXI chassis.
 

PXI Ultra High Density BRIC Matrices with BIRST - September 2009
Pickering has enhanced its extensive range of Ultra High Density BRIC matrices with the introduction of the 40-560A, 40-561A, 40-562A and 40-563A. They have all the features and performance of the original 40-560 series BRICs with the added advantage of Built-In Relay Self Test which identifies faulty or suspect relays, greatly simplifying test system verification and maintenance.

 
PXI Very High Density Matrix Modules with BIRST - September 2009
Pickering has expanded its range of PXI conformant very high density 1-pole matrices with the introduction of the 40-584, 40-585, 40-586 and 40-587. They have matrix sizes of 128x2, 64x4, 32x8 and 16x16 respectively, are capable of switching 2 Amps and have a 300Vdc/250Vac voltage rating. These matrices also have the advantage of Built-In Relay Self Test which identifies faulty or suspect relays, greatly simplifying test system verification and maintenance.

LXI Low Thermal EMF Matrix - September 2009
The 60-511 is an LXI conformant matrix suitable for switching applications that require minimal thermal EMF errors such as data acquisition and low voltage measurements. The matrix is implemented with electro-mechanical relays and is available in sizes of 14x33, 28x33, 42x33 and 56x33.
 
 

LXI High Density 2-Pole Matrices - July 2009
Pickering has expanded its range of LXI conformant high density matrices with the introduction of the 60-555 and 60-556. They are based on electro-mechanical relays and offer 2-pole switching with 300Vdc/250Vac voltage rating and 2 Amp current handling. The 60-555 is available in sizes between 192x8 and 512x8, and the 60-556 is available in sizes between 192x4 and 512x4.

 
PXI Digital I/O Module - June 2009
Pickering Interfaces has introduced a new digital I/O module to its PXI module range with 32 input and 32 output channels. The 40-413 is available in 3 versions: The 40-413-001 has 32 high-side output drivers capable of sourcing 2A, the 40-413-002 has 32 low-side output drivers capable of sinking 2A, and the 40-413-003 has 32 outputs which can be individually used as high-side drivers or low-side drivers. All versions have 32 digital input channels which can be compared to two user programmable threshold voltages, making it simple to check that the external inputs are high, low or at an intermediate voltage.
 
8 and 19 Slot PXI Chassis - March 2009
The 40-922 and 40-923 are 8 slot and 19 slot PXI chassis with high cooling capacity and advanced user features. Cooling is carried out with temperature controlled variable speed fans giving a low acoustic noise output. An intelligent chassis management system continuously monitors the chassis supply voltages, temperature and fan speeds, this status information is also available externally via an RS232 interface. Optional rack mounting kits are available for both chassis to enable easy integration into a rack based test system.
PCI Precision Resistor Card - March 2009
Pickering Interfaces has introduced a new precision resistor card to its PCI module range. The 50-297 is a high density resistor simulator with a broad resistance range and high channel count which provides similar functionality to Pickering Interfaces well established 40-297 PXI solution. It is available in 3 standard configurations having resistance ranges of 1ohm to 230ohm, 2ohm to 13.5kohm and 3ohm to 1.5Mohm with 18, 9 and 6 channels respectively. The 6 channel version has a setting resolution of 0.125ohm.
 

LXI High Density 2 Amp Matrices - January 2009
Pickering has expanded its range of LXI conformant high density matrices with the introduction of the 60-554. It is based on electro-mechanical relays with 300Vdc/250Vac voltage rating and 2 Amp current handling and is available in sizes between 64x16 and 256x16.

 
PXI Digital I/O Module With Variable Threshold - January 2009
Pickering Interfaces has introduced a new digital input/output module with variable threshold. The 40-412 is fully PXI compliant and provides 32 input channels and 32 output channels. The outputs can operate as either high-side or low-side drivers, and each channel can source 0.4A or sink 0.5A. The input channels have dual programmable thresholds allowing the user to program the high, low and intermediate states of incoming signals. The 40-412 is complimentary to 64 channel low side driver PXI module, 40-411, also available from Pickering Interfaces.
 
LXI Modular Switching Chassis - November 2008
The 60-102 supports 7 PXI modules and the 60-103 supports 18 PXI modules. These chassis allow 3U PXI modules from Pickering's range of over 500 to be controlled in an LXI environment. This includes a huge range of switching modules together with additional test functions such as programmable power supplies, battery simulators, attenuators, digital I/O, breadboards and programmable resistor cards. The LXI interface allows the chassis to be controlled remotely over Ethernet.
 
PXI Resistive Strain Gauge Simulator Module - October 2008
Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range of sensor simulators with a Strain Gauge Simulator Module. The 40-265 provides 6 channels of strain gauge simulation with high accuracy and performance. Each channel provides a full bridge circuit with very fine resistance control of better than 2 milliohm in one bridge arm. The bridge can be excited by a fixed internal supply or by independent external bridge voltage sources, permitting direct connection to strain gauge measuring systems.
 

LXI 1GHz Video Multiplexer - September 2008
The 60-721 is an LXI conformant high performance RF multiplexer suitable for 75 ohm video signal routing. It is available in 24, 48 or 72 channel versions and is capable of switching frequencies up to 1GHz. It also features automatic termination of unused channels and has expansion outputs for the easy construction of larger multiplexers.

 
PXI High Current Solid State Switching Modules - August 2008
Pickering Interfaces introduces a new range of PXI High Current Solid State Switching Modules. The 40-191 and 40-192 are 6-channel fault insertion switches with 2 fault busses capable of switching 10A, 200V and 30A, 40V respectively. The 40-182 and 40-183 are SPST solid state switches capable of switching 10A, 200V and 30A, 40V respectively. The 40-666 and 40-667 are solid state multiplexers available in dual 3 channel or single 6 channel configurations with 10A, 200V and 30A, 40V ratings respectively. The 40-553 and 40-554 are 6x2 solid state matrices with 10A, 200V and 30A, 40V ratings respectively.
PXI Power Relay Module - July 2008
The 40-330 is a power relay module with 24 separate SPST contacts, each capable of handling 4 Amps and hot switching 250 Volts AC. The cold switch rating of 1000 Volts peak makes the 40-330 ideal for high voltage test applications where hot switching is not required.
PXI Data Communications Multiplexer - July 2008
The 40-736 module is a configurable multiplexer specifically designed for the switching of data carried on differential pairs. It can be set under software control to switch 32 single pairs, 16 dual pairs or 8 quad pairs. It is ideal for switching signals such as POTS, USB, AFDX and 100BaseT Ethernet. Additionally, the high bandwidth of the multiplexer allows the switching of Gigabit Ethernet.
 
PXI Precision Programmable Resistor Modules - June 2008
The 40-261 is a 2 channel resistor module offering excellent resolution and accuracy and is available in two resistance ranges. The resistor channels cover the range of 1.5ohm to 2.9kohm or 10ohm to 36kohm with setting resolutions of less than 2mohm and 15mohm respectively.
The 40-297 has a wider resistance range but, a lower resolution than the 40-261, and is available in three standard configurations of 1ohm to 230ohm, 2ohm to 13.5kohm and 3ohm to 1.5Mohm with 18, 9 and 6 channels respectively. The 6 channel version has a setting resolution of 0.125ohm.
 
LXI High Density 2 Amp Matrices - June 2008
The 60-550 and 60-551 are a range of high density LXI conformant matrices based on electro-mechanical relays with 2 Amp current handling. The 60-550 is available in sizes between 128x8 and 512x8, and the 60-551 is available in sizes between 128x4 and 512x4.
 
PXI Solid State 64x4 Matrix - April 2008
The 40-500 is a solid state 64x4 matrix with 1.5A inrush and 0.5A continuous current rating at voltages up to 60V. It can reliably hot switch DC or AC signals with no impact on operational life. The module can handle 3A continuous on each Y axis connection making it suitable for power supply distribution applications. The matrix occupies just one 3U PXI slot.
 
PXI Fault Insertion Modules - April 2008
The 40-193 and 40-194 are fault insertion modules that aid Hardware-In-the-Loop testing of control systems under fault conditions. Both modules can handle 20A fault currents and the 40-194 can handle both high and low fault currents. Each module supports 7 channels of fault insertion, permitting the simulation of open circuits, shorts to a fault bus and shorts between channels.
 

LXI High Density and High Current Matrices - March 2008
The 60-600 is a range of LXI conformant high power single pole matrices suitable for power signal routing in large ATE systems. They are available in single matrix or dual matrix configurations.

The 60-552 is an LXI conformant high density matrix available in sizes up to 64x64. Loop-thru connections on the front panel allow easy expansion of X and Y buses to create larger matrices.

 
75 Ohm and 50 Ohm PXI RF Switching Modules - March 2008
The range of high performance RF switches has been expanded with new 75 ohm and 50 ohm RF modules. The 40-830, 40-832, 40-834, 40-835, 40-837 and 40-876 offer low VSWR and low insertion loss with bandwidth up to 3GHz. Available with a choice of connector styles they are ideal for RF test applications.
 
 
ARINC Switching Modules - February 2008
The 40-569 & 40-618 specifically address ARINC 608A switching requirements for avionics test systems. These new PXI solutions offer very competitive alternatives compared to earlier VXI products. The new PXI ARINC 608A switching solutions provide more compact and cost effective implementations than alternative approaches, and provides simpler software control because of their highly integrated design. The 40-569 is a BRIC module that integrates the Resource Distributor and Bus Matrix inputs with an analog backplane to provide switching functions described in Appendix D of the specification. The 40-618 provides the general purpose SPST switches and 4 channel multiplexers described in Appendix D.
 
40-262 PXI RTD Simulator Module - February 2008
The 40-262 is the latest addition to the Precision Resistor module range and can accurately simulate up to 18 channels of resistive temperature devices (RTD) in a single PXI module with an unprecedented accuracy in the PXI format. Versions simulating PT100 and PT1000 sensors are available, other sensors can be supported on request.
 
60-800 & 60-820 LXI Microwave Multiplexers - December 2007
These multiplexers are the latest additions to Pickering's range of LXI microwave switching products. The 60-800 has a bandwidth up to 20GHz with a 50 ohm charateristic impedance. The 60-820 has a bandwidth up to 2.5GHz with a 75 ohm charateristic impedance. Both are available with 4, 8, 12 or 16 banks of high performance 6 to 1 multiplexers housed in 2U rack format with the convenience of remote control over Ethernet.
 
PXI Precision Resistor Module - October 2007
The 40-260 is the first of a new generation of programmable resistor modules from Pickering Interfaces. It features high setting resolution and excellent stability and accuracy through the use of innovative switching networks and software correction techniques. The 40-260 is available with three programmable resistor channels each with a range of 90 ohms to 8k ohms, custom resistance ranges are also available.
