Pickering's BREXIT Statement
BREXIT (UK’s exit from the European Union) may raise concerns and questions with some of Pickering’s customers and suppliers. Below is an overview of Pickering’s plans to avoid any disruption as a result of an orderly or disorderly BREXIT. This page will be updated with more details as more information becomes available.
BREXIT - Current Situation
The UK is due to leave the European Union (EU) on 29th March 2019, negotiations between the UK government and the EU are currently on-going. However, the decision to leave the Customs Union is likely to be extended possibly to a 21 month Transition Period until 31st December 2020 (the transition period is dependent upon the EU and UK agreeing on a full withdrawal treaty before 29th March 2019).
Pickering’s Preparedness and Planning for BREXIT
Pickering is a UK owned and headquartered group that exports approximately 90% of its products to principal markets throughout Europe, North America and Asia. In addition to the UK factory in Clacton-on-Sea, Pickering already has the majority of its manufacturing operations for both Pickering Interfaces and Pickering Electronics inside the EU, with facilities situated in Trinec in the Czech Republic, with over 200 employees. Additionally, Pickering has its own EU based sales offices in Germany, France, Sweden and the Czech Republic.
Pickering has a high level of vertical integration—the design and manufacturing processes for all our critical components, software and cabling are carried out in-house. This capability will help to reduce any potential BREXIT disruption due to EU/UK supply chains.
25th November 2018 update: As a further step in our BREXIT preparations, Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) has been granted to Pickering Interfaces Ltd. Authorization type is AEOF (Full) Customs simplifications, security and safety. Authorization number is GB AEO F/00128/18. Orders and Shipping to the EU
Pickering plans to be able to ship all products destined for EU countries from our facilities in Trinec, Czech Republic.
Orders and Shipping to the UK
Pickering plans to be able to ship all products destined for the UK from our facilities in Clacton-on-Sea, UK.
Orders and Shipping Outside the EU
It is expected that all current trade agreements that the EU has with other countries will also apply to the UK after BREXIT, so Pickering will continue to ship mostly from the UK. In the event that customers prefer shipping from within the EU then we will also be able to ship directly from Trinec, Czech Republic.
