We are continually developing new modular switching and simulation products; from our extensive PXI product line—now with over 1,000 PXI modules—to our rapidly expanding range of Ethernet LXI switching solutions and PCI switch cards. Did you know, many of our PXI modules can be used in a LXI environment by using our LXI Modular Switching Chassis.
Below are just a few of our recent switching product introductions. Pickering's mission is to provide our customers with the broadest selection, the highest density and lowest cost for advanced functional test applications.
New PXI/PXIe Battery Simulator Module Suitable for Battery Stack Emulation - October 2021
The 41/43-752A is a new family of PXI/PXIe battery simulator modules, ideal for Electric Vehicle (EV) battery stack emulation in
Battery Management Systems (BMS) test applications. They are available with two, four or six battery cell simulators per module
that are fully isolated from ground and from each other facilitating series connection to simulate batteries in a stacked architecture.
Each cell simulator is highly accurate, specified at ±5 mV from 1 V to 7 V. The 750 V isolation barrier allows the modules to be used to
simulate lower power battery stacks that are commonly used for vehicle propulsion. Battery charging emulation is available up to 100 mA.
Two new Ranges of PXI/PXIe Power Relay Modules with 5 Amp Current Handling - September 2021
Two new 5 Amp power relay module families, available in PXI & PXIe formats, the 40/42-153 and 40/42-158 are suitable
for switching heavy AC or DC loads or for controlling large external relays, contactors and solenoids. The 40/42-153
has configurations up to 50xSPST and the 40/42-158 has configurations up to 32xSPDT making these products the highest
density 5 Amp switching modules in the PXI market. All versions are available with an optional hardware interlock that,
when activated, returns all relays to their default state.
New PXI/PXIe Differential Multiplexer Module Suitable for MIL-STD-1553 Testing - August 2021
The 40/42-739 is a PXI/PXIe multiplexer module optimized for MIL-STD-1553 testing applications. With a differential bandwidth
of 450 MHz — far exceeding the requirements of MIL-STD-1553 — it is available in single or dual 4:1, 8:1 or 16:1 differential
configurations. It uses telecommunications-grade electromechanical relays and has minimal initial signal path resistance
of less than 450 mΩ. The multiplexer features impedance-controlled differential pairs with a single-ended characteristic
impedance of 39 Ω and a differential impedance of 78 Ω, within the MIL-STD-1553-specified range of 70-85 Ω. Occupying
a single chassis slot, it is available in both PXI and PXIe formats.
Updated Range of PXI/PXIe Microwave Multiplexer Modules with 67GHz Bandwidth - May 2021
Pickering's established range of PXI Microwave Switching products has been expanded to include a new range of unterminated
multiplexer modules with a maximum bandwidth of 67GHz. This new range includes SP6T and SP4T versions with one or two
multiplexers mounted on the front panel in a 3-slot module or one, two or three remotely mounted multiplexers in a single
slot. Additionally, these modules are available in PXI or PXIe formats, signal connections are via SMA-1.85 coaxial connectors.
Applications for these new higher frequency microwave multiplexers are in ATE systems for aerospace, military and automotive
radar, high-frequency communications plus 5G telecommunications and semiconductor test.
New Ranges of 67GHz Microwave Multiplexers in LXI Format - May 2021
The existing 60-800 LXI Microwave Multiplexer range has been expanded to include SP6T unterminated versions with 67GHz bandwidth. Additionally, the 60-803 has been introduced which is a new range of LXI Microwave Multiplexers in SP4T unterminated format, also with a maximum bandwidth of 67GHz. Both ranges can be specified with 1 to 8 multiplexers in 2U rack size or 9 to 16 multiplexers on 3U rack size, connections are via SMA-1.85 coaxial connectors. Applications for these new higher frequency microwave multiplexers are in ATE systems for aerospace, military and automotive radar, high-frequency communications plus 5G telecommunications and semiconductor test.
New Range of PXI High Density Multiplexer Modules with Monitor Function - March 2021
This range of PXI modules has the same functionality as a typical single-pole, 2A 60W multiplexer with the addition of secondary
relays to determine the multiplexer channel status. Every multiplexer channel is provided with an additional monitor
switch that allows the user, via an external measurement device, to verify that channels are ‘open’ before applying test
signals. The multiplexer is available in nine switching configurations from 16:1 to 128:1, providing flexibility in test
system design. It uses high-quality electro-mechanical (EMR) signal relays suitable for switching loads up to 2A at 250VAC/DC.

New High Density, High Bandwidth Matrices in PXI and PXIe Formats - February 2021
These new general purpose PXI/PXIe matrices offer the industry’s highest bandwidth. They are available in high-density 16x8 or 32x8 2-pole switching configurations. These matrices offer bandwidths ranging from 35MHz to 70MHz depending upon path selected and a VSWR <1.5:1 to 85MHz. The modules are in two-slot PXI (model 40-588) or PXIe (model 42-588) formats and are constructed using telecommunication grade electromechanical relays capable of hot or cold switching up to 2A at 220VDC/250VAC.
Two New Gen 3 PXI Express (PXIe) Chassis - December 2020
These new 8-slot and 18-slot PXIe chassis are designed for high-performance, benchtop or rack-mount applications. Both chassis feature an intelligent chassis management system that monitors the power supply voltage, internal temperature and cooling fan speed. The 42-924 8-slot chassis provides seven hybrid-compatible slots for application flexibility. The 42-925 18-slot chassis provides one PXIe system slot, one PXIe timing slot and 16 hybrid-compatible slots for similar versatility. Any 3U PXI, PXIe, or Compact PCI-compliant module will work in any module slot.
New Analog Output Module Suitable for Current Loop Simulation - October 2020
The 41-765 is designed to meet the requirements of industrial control applications utilising current loops of 4 – 20mA. It
consists of up to four 16-bit, digital-to-analogue converters (DAC), capable of creating four current outputs each. It
has the ability to simulate errors or extra signalling conditions and the ±24mA mode gives the ability to simulate either
a sourcing or sinking sensor. Typical applications span across 4 – 20mA current loops, analogue output modules, programmable
logic controllers (PLCs), industrial automation, sensor transmitters and process control.
New Range of PXI Power Relay Modules - October 2020
A new range of high-power PXI relay modules with the industry’s highest switching capacity in the smallest footprint for a solution based on electromechanical relays. Occupying a compact single PXI slot, the 40-166 is available with SPST, SPDT or SP4T switching configurations. It uses power relays suitable for switching loads up to 20A (SPDT & SP4T versions) or 30A at 277VAC (SPST) and can switch voltages up to 480VAC or 300VDC.
New LVDT/RVDT/Resolver Simulator - September 2020
The 41-670 module range can simulate up to four channels of 5/6-wire LVDT/RVDT or resolvers, or eight channels of 4-wire
LVDT/RVDTs. Each VDT bank has an independent excitation input, as well as the ability to use an internally generated
excitation signal. It can operate with a shared excitation signal to each channel for synchronous test. Several models
are available that support excitation voltages ranging from 0.25 VRMS to 38 VRMS and frequencies from 300 Hz to 20 kHz,
meaning the 41-670 family can simulate a wide range of LVDT, RVDT, or Resolvers.
New 50 Ohm Microwave Multiplexer - August 2020
The 60-891-001-001 36 channel Microwave Multiplexer
is suitable for switching 50Ω signals up to 18GHz. Connection is by front panel SMA connectors. It is also available
as the 60-891-001-002 which is a 50Ω BNC version
which can switch signals up to 4GHz. The multiplexer has an extremely high level of performance with low VSWR, very high
isolation, low loss and high power handling. It is ideal for switching 50Ω systems for HF up to microwave frequencies.
It occupies 2U of rack space, providing a compact switching solution.
The 60-891-001 is an example of Pickering's Turnkey LXI Microwave Switch and Signal Routing Subsystems.
Updated Range of BRIC™ Matrices - Including 12-Slot Modules - June 2020
The established 40-562A range of PXI Large BRIC Matrix modules has been updated to 40-562B and now includes the 12-slot BRIC capable of hosting up to 18 sub-matrix cards with a maximum of 3168 crosspoints. 1 and 2-pole versions are available with matrix sizes up to 792x4, 396x8, 198x16 or 90x32. All versions include an internal screened analog bus which reduces the need for external cabling and maximizes signal integrity. The matrices are capable of switching signals up to 1 Amp and high reliability instrument grade reed relays manufactured by or Relay Division are used throughout. The 40-562B is also available in 2, 4 and 8 PXI slot versions offering a wide range of densities and configurations to exactly match your switching system requirements.
Range of 12-Slot BRIC™ Ultra-High-Density 0.5A Large PXI Matrices - June 2020
This update to the existing 40-558 ultra-high density BRIC matrix modules adds 12-slot modules to the range making it the
industry's highest capacity PXI matrix switch module. They are capable of carrying 18 sub-matrix cards with up to 9216
crosspoints. All versions are constructed using 4mmx4mm high reliability ruthenium reed relays manufactured by our Relay
Division and are available with maximum matrix sizes of 576x16, 756x12, 1152x8 and 1512x6. Y-bus isolation switches are
included between the sub-matrix cards and the analog bus on the BRIC's backplane. x8, and x6 versions have the added
versatility of dual analog buses. The 40-558 is also available in 2, 4 and 8 PXI slot versions offering a wide range
of densities and configurations to exactly match your switching system requirements.
New Thermocouple Simulator Module - February 2020
This new PXI low voltage output module is available with 32, 24, 16 or 8 channels and is ideal for the simulation of thermocouples.
Each channel provides a low voltage output across two connector pins capable of providing ±20mV with 0.7µV resolution,
±50mV with 1.7µV resolution and ±100mV with 3.3µV resolution, covering most thermocouple types. The use of two-wire outputs
and isolation from ground ensures that the 41-761 can be used to accurately simulate low voltages even in the presence
of common-mode voltages in the system.
Range of Ultra-High-Density 0.5A Large PXI Matrices- BRIC™ - August 2019
The 40-558 is a new generation of BRIC matrix modules featuring 0.5A/5W switching with up to 6144 crosspoints making them
39% higher density than competing products. They are constructed using 4mmx4mm high reliability ruthenium reed relays
manufactured by our sister company Pickering Electronics and are available with maximum matrix sizes of 384x16, 504x12,
768x8 and 1008x6. All versions have automatic Y-bus isolation switches between the sub-matrix cards and the analog bus
on the BRIC's backplane. x8, and x6 versions have the added versatility of dual analog buses. The 40-558 is available

New 256 Crosspoint 2-Pole PXI Switching Matrices - March 2019
Featuring 256 2-pole crosspoints, these matrices are available in 32x8 and 64x4 configurations. They are constructed from gold-plated contact electro-mechanical relays and are capable of switching up to 300VDC/250VAC and up to 60W maximum power, maximum current is 2A, hot or cold switching. They feature integrated BIRST self-test hardware which provides a quick and simple way of finding relay failures within the module.
New Family of 110 PXI Programmable Resistor Modules - October 2018
A new range of PXI Programmable Resistor Modules with 2.5W, 5W or 10W power handling with a wide selection of channel counts and resistance ranges. These modules target applications that require an accurate medium-power programmable resistance such as a programmable load for the testing of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) or for fuel level sensing in the demanding, hi-reliability, Automotive, Military and Aerospace sectors.

The updated family of PXI solid-state 50Ω terminated RF switches, includes SPDT switches, SP4T, SP6T, SP8T and SP16T multiplexers, and 4x4 matrix modules. The 40-88xA range of high performance switches now has a frequency range of 10MHz to 8GHz and features automatic termination of unused switch channels, up to +36dBm input power handling and excellent RF performance characteristics.
New Range of 4 and 6 Channel LXI Microwave Multiplexers - September 2018
A new range of LXI based microwave multiplexers with 50Ω characteristic impedance and bandwidths of 6GHz, 18GHz, 26.5GHz and 40GHz. Available in 4-channel (60-802) or 6-channel (60-801) formats with 4 or 8 banks in a 1U enclosure or 12 or 16 banks in a 2U enclosure, they are ideal for constructing complex, high performance microwave switching systems with the added advantage of remote control via Ethernet.
New Ranges of High Density Precision Programmable Resistors - September 2018
The 40-298 & 50-298 range provides a simple solution for applications requiring accurate simulation of resistive sensors. Available in a variety of channel counts, resistance ranges and resolutions, they meet the needs of most functional test systems. They are particularly suited to simulation applications such as the testing of engine controllers where resistive sensors provide information on parameters such as temperature.
New Range of RTD Simulator Modules - September 2018
The 40-263 range is a cost effective method of simulating PT100, PT500 or PT1000 RTDs. It supports 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24
channels in one or two PXI slots. Also, channels are able to be set as short or open circuit to simulate faulty wiring
to a sensor.
The module is available with resistance ranges of 40Ω to 900Ω for PT100 simulation, 200Ω to 4500Ω for PT500 simulation or 400Ω to 9000Ω for PT1000 simulation. All versions are suitable for simulating a temperature range of approximately -150°C to >+850°C for their given sensor type.
6-Slot USB/LXI Chassis - September 2018
This 6-slot modular chassis offers a small lightweight 1U form factor, making it ideal for portable, and space restrictive
rack mount applications. The chassis features remote control via USB or LXI Ethernet. Remote control over a network enables
the switching function of a test system to be located as close as possible to the target equipment. The chassis is also
available with built-in scan list sequencing and triggering. Supporting up to six modules from our range of over 1000
3U PXI modules, the 60-106 is the perfect platform to construct small scale applications.
New USB 2.0 Hub Module - August 2018
The 42-738 is a single-slot 3U PXIe module that combines an 8-port USB 2.0 hub and USB data/power switching to provide a
controlled connection between the backplane and USB products. Each port can connect and disconnect the power and data
paths separately, simulating various connection faults.
The module can be used to connect a USB device under test or USB test equipment to the test system without reliance on the controller’s USB ports, eliminating the need for freestanding powered hubs in a test system. It also provides a simple way of expanding the range of test equipment supported by PXI-based test systems to include USB power meters, USB data acquisition systems and USB scopes.
New Range of PXI 2 Amp Fault Insertion Switching Modules - April 2018
These new PXI Fault Insertion Switches are available with 22 or 11 channels. They are designed to simulate fault conditions
for reliability testing in automotive and avionics test applications. They are suitable for differential signals and
have the capability to insert fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test. Typical faults
conditions include; open-circuit, short-circuit between signal pairs and short-circuit to user applied fault conditions
such as power or ground.

4-Slot USB/LXI Chassis - September 2017
This 4-slot modular chassis offers a small lightweight form factor, making it ideal for portable, benchtop, and space
restrictive applications. It is designed for desk or rack mounting and features control via USB or LXI Ethernet. Remote
control over a network enables the switching function of a test system to be located as close as possible to the target
equipment. The 60-105 supports up to four modules from our range of over 1000 3U PXI modules, it is the perfect platform
to construct small scale applications.
Scalable LXI Reed Relay Matrix Solution - September 2017
This scalable LXI matrix solution can be easily re-configured by the insertion and removal of up to six LXI matrix plug-ins.
It is purchased as an empty chassis with a quantity of plug-in required for a particular matrix size. The plug-ins are
loaded into the chassis via the front panel and as your requirements evolve, additional modules can be easily fitted.
When new modules are added, the control software automatically detects the new configuration. The range of plug-in includes
matrices up to 1,536x4 in increments of 128 (model 65-221),
768x8 in increments of 64 (model 65-223),
384x16 in increments of 32 (model 65-225),
and 192x32 in increments of 32 (model 65-227).
Range PXI Microwave Multiplexers Expanded - August 2017
We have expanded our 40-785B PXI Microwave Multiplexer range to include new 50GHz modules. These 50Ω multiplexers are available
in single or dual 6-channel format occupying three PXI slots with relays mounted on the front panel. Single slot versions
are also available which can support up to three remotely mounted multiplexers. All versions include front panel LEDs
to indicate the channel setting.
Expanded Range of Strain Gauge Simulators - February 2017
PXI Strain Gauge Simulator Module (40-265) – now with 2 and 4 channel versions.
PCI Strain Gauge Simulator Card (50-265) – now with 2 and 4 channel versions.
Our existing range of 6 channel Strain Gauge Simulator modules and cards has now been expanded to include 2 and 4 channel versions. All versions are available with standard bridge impedances of 350Ω, 1kΩ, 1.5kΩ, 2kΩ and 3kΩ designed for simulating the operation of a variety of strain gauges. They are ideal for testing strain gauge meters and a wide range of industrial control systems.
New Range of PXI High Density 2 Amp Multiplexers - January 2017
Available in 20 configurations, these modules use high-quality electro-mechanical signal relays allowing each channel to
switch current up to 2A and voltage up to 300VDC/250VAC and are supported by Pickering’s eBIRST switching system test
tools. These multiplexers are suitable for signal routing in ATE and data acquisition systems. The front panel user connection
is via a 160-pin DIN 41612 connector which is fully supported by our comprehensive range of cabling and connector solutions.
New 2-Slot PXI Chassis With USB/LXI Control - September 2016
This 2-slot USB/LXI modular chassis offers a small lightweight form factor, making it ideal for portable, benchtop, and space
restrictive applications. The chassis is designed for desk or rack mounting and features remote control via USB or LXI
Ethernet. Remote control over a network enables the switching function of a test system to be located as close as possible
to the target equipment. The 60-104 supports one or two modules from Pickering's range of over 1000 3U PXI modules, it
is the perfect platform to construct small scale applications.
Introducing The New PXI Millivolt Thermocouple Simulator - September 2016
The 41-760 PXI Millivolt Thermocouple Simulator Modules are ideal for simulating the operation of thermocouples for applications
such as ECU testing. They are available in a choice of 8, 16, 24 or 32 channels—each providing a low-voltage output across
two connector pins capable of delivering ±20mV with 0.7µV resolution, ±50mV with 1.7µV resolution and ±100mV with 3.3µV
resolution, covering most thermocouple types. We can also supply connection solutions terminated with thermocouple plugs
to allow easy integration into a test system.
New Signal Routing Software - August 2016
This software simplifies the routing of signals through switching systems and speeds up the development of switching system software. Switch Path Manager supports Pickering Interfaces switching products and the interconnection between these products. Third-party products can be supported on request.
Once a switching system model has been created, signal routing can be performed by simply defining the endpoints that are
required to be connected together. The ability to automate signal routing results in simple and effective switching system
management, safe and fast.
New Range of PCI Fault Insertion Switch Cards For Differential Serial Interfaces - June 2016
These new cards include the Differential PCI Fault Insertion Switch (model 50-200) which is designed for lower data rate serial interfaces such as CAN and FlexRay, and the High Bandwidth Differential PCI Fault Insertion Switch (model 50-201) which is designed for higher data rate serial interfaces such as AFDX and 1000BaseT Ethernet. Each card allows the introduction of fault conditions that include data paths open, data paths shorted together, and data paths shorted to externally applied faults such as power supplies and ground.
New High Density PXI Matrix Module Range - May 2016
The new PXI 40-520 module family are high-density matrices with 22 different configurations and up to 256 crosspoints to suit a large variety of user requirements. The choice of six bus widths (x16, x12, x8, x6, x4 & x2) enables competitively priced solutions using Pickering Electronics’ instrumentation quality reed relays. These relays offer very long life with good low-level switching performance and excellent contact resistance stability. The range comes with Built-in Relay Self-Test (BIRST) and is also supported by eBIRST Switching System Test Tools. These tools provide a quick and simple way of finding relay failures within the module.
New High-Density PXI Relay Module - May 2016
This module is configured with 83 SPDT relays, is designed for applications requiring a higher density 2 Amp alternative
to Pickering’s current 52 SPDT module (model 40-139). The module is suitable for applications requiring medium power
switching with very high density. It features a 2 Amp current capacity and voltages to 200VDC/140VAC. Connections
are made via a front panel mounted 500-pin SEARAY high-density connector.
New 50Ω 600MHz Multiplexers Added to PXI RF Switching Range - April 2016
This new range of PXI RF Multiplexers (series 40-760) is available in the following configurations: dual, quad and octal SP4T, single, dual and quad SP8T, single and dual SP16T and SP32T. All of the multiplexers have versions with automatic terminations to manage VSWR effects which could degrade the performance of a test system. All versions of this range of PXI RF multiplexers exhibit low insertion loss and VSWR through the use of modern RF relay technology. Each version has been carefully designed to ensure excellent and repeatable RF characteristics to frequencies of 600MHz with each path having a nominally equal insertion loss.
New Digital I/O Module - February 2016
The 40-228 provides 32 channels of digital input and 32 channels of digital output, together with switched +12V, +5V, +3.3V
and -12V supply outputs derived from the PXI backplane. The module is available fitted with a DC-DC converter (40-228-001)
which provides an additional -5V supply ouput. Alternatively the module can be supplied with an industry standard footprint
for a DC-DC converter (40-228-002) allowing the user to fit their own if required. The 40-228 includes a breadboard area
that allows users to add their own circuitry.
New Modular Breakout System For HILS Applications- November 2015
OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES, have designed a low-cost Modular Breakout System for HILS (Hardware In the Loop Simulation) Applications. The system combines a BoB (Breakout Box) feature set with added flexibility and an FIU (Fault Insertion Unit) chassis. By mating the FIU chassis directly to the BoB, cabling is minimized, creating a more compact reliable design and improving signal integrity. All cables to the simulation system and the UUT (Unit Under Test) are located behind the front panel of the Modular Breakout System creating a simpler front panel that is less prone to damage.
Introducing New Solid State Multiplexer - November 2015
The 40-652 offers a range of configurations suitable for hot or cold switching signals up to ±100V at 5A. The use of
solid state relays allows the hot switching of signals without any life degradation, including DC signals that EMR
(Electro-Mechanical Relay) designs can only handle with much-reduced service life and power handling. The multiplexer
module is available in single pole 48:1, two pole 24:1, single pole dual 24:1 or single pole 24:1 configurations.
Additionally the module is supported by our new
system test tools.
Fault Insertion Switch Range Expanded for Differential Serial Interfaces - September 2015
Differential PXI Fault Insertion Switch (40-200) – supports 4 or 8 Differential Channels, includes 4 fault buses and 8 fault inputs.
High Bandwidth Differential PXI Fault Insertion Switch (40-201) – supports 4 or 8 Differential Channels, includes 2 fault buses and 4 fault inputs.

Expanding The Range of PCI and PXI Precision Programmable Resistors - September 2015
Pickering’s range of PCI and PXI High-Density Precision Programmable Resistors have been expanded to increase the configurations offered from 42 to 50 models per platform. Each version offers users the choice of channel count, range and setting resolution. Depending on the version, the resolution is from 0.125Ω to 2Ω and channel counts from 3 to 18, basic accuracy is 0.2% ± resolution. The new additions to the range increase the maximum resistance available to 22.3MΩ.

This new PXI Reed Relay Matrix is available as either a 64x4 or 64x2 matrix in either 1-pole or 2-pole formats and is
capable of 1A 150VDC/100VAC 15W hot switching. It is 100% pin compatible with the previous version (40-533A) and
offers improved performance. The 40-533B is supported by our Built-In Relay Self-Test System - BIRST,
which provides a quick and simple way of finding relay failures. Additionally the module is supported by our new
system test tools.
New Range of PCI Fault Insertion Switch Cards - April 2015
PCI 2A Fault Insertion Switch (50-190) – available in six configurations with 75, 64 or 36 channel and 1 or 2 fault buses.
Pickering's new range of PCI Fault Insertion Switch Cards are primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. They are capable of inserting fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test such as; open-circuit, short-circuit between UUT connections or short-circuit to other signals such as power, ignition and ground via Fault Insertion Bus.
eBIRST Switching System Test Tools - March 2015
Designed specifically for Pickering’s PXI, PCI or LXI (Ethernet) products, the eBIRST tools simplify switching system fault finding by quickly testing the system and identifying the faulty relays. Once identified, the tools then display a graphical representation of the switching system’s PCB assembly, highlighting the relays that need to be replaced. The eBIRST tools achieve this task by measuring the path resistance between different pins on the switching system connector and controlling the path through the system to allow it to test any of the relays in the system. Systems that use separate input and output connections can be tested by use of two eBIRST tools in a master/slave configuration.

16A PXI Power Multiplexer Module (40-662) – available in seven configurations ranging from 4-off 2:1 multiplexers to 1-off 16:1 multiplexer.
16A PXI Power Matrix Module (40-552) – available in four configurations with matrix sizes of 8x2 and 4x4 and optional Y-Axis Loop-thru connections.
Careful attention to the switching design ensures that these PXI modules can carry the full 16A current on each path simultaneously over the complete operating temperature range. They are also capable of switching 300VDC or 250VAC. Applications include electric vehicles, automotive ECU testing, AC mains switching, high current power supplies, load switching, and aerospace electric drive testing.
Introducing Two New PCI and PXI Programmable Resistors - January 2015
Both of these new programmable resistor solutions feature lower density and lower cost for simulating variable resistors. Each has 12 channel options with resolutions of 0.25 Ohm to 2 Ohm and channel counts of two or four. They have the option of eight extra SPST relays that can be used for extending the resistance range or for other switching functions within a test system. All versions use high-quality instrument grade reed relays to ensure long service life and fast setting times.
New High-Density LXI Switching Matrix Introduced - January 2015
High-Density LXI Switching Matrix (60-553) is a 1024x4 dual bus 1-pole matrix in a compact 1U full rack width enclosure. The product has been designed specifically to support high relay closure counts to optimize its use with a digital multimeter (DMM) or source meter for checking for insulation problems between a single contact and all other contacts in the unit under test (UUT), requiring the closure of up to 1024 crosspoint relays.
Also available on the 60-553 LXI matrix is Pickering’s diagnostic test tool BIRST™ (Built-in Relay Self-Test).
BIRST provides a quick and simple way of finding relay failures within the matrices.
Range of PXI High Power Switch Modules Expanded - December 2014
PXI 25A Solid-State SPST Switch (40-184) – offer 3 or 6-off SPST solid-state switches capable of handling 25A signals at up to 100V.
PXI 1.5A Solid-State SPST Switch (40-185) – offer 3 or 6-off SPST solid-state switches capable of handling 1.5A signals at up to 400V.
Both of these new PXI switching solutions use solid-state switch designs based on isolated MOSFET technology to provide solutions capable of switching very high power AC or DC signals without any lifetime degradation while used within their ratings. The solid-state SPST switches feature a fast operating time of less than 250µs and bounce-free state transitions that can handle high inrush currents on switching without any impact on lifetime.
New PXI Signal Insertion and Monitor Matrix Modules - September 2014
The PXI Signal Insertion and Monitor Matrix Modules (40-525A) are 34x4 matrices with both switched and direct connection paths to the X and Y-axis. This matrix permits test signals to pass thru the switched X-axis to the unit under test (UUT) on the direct X connection, the switch allowing each thru path to be opened to disconnect the stimulus signal. The direct Y-axis to the matrix allows the user to monitor the signals with test equipment, such as an oscilloscope or DMM, the matrix allowing the test equipment to connect to any of the 34 thru connections. The switched Y connections can be used to inject alternative test signals into the UUT or to apply faults to the thru connection such as shorts to ground or to a supply voltage. The matrix also allows thru paths to be expanded using additional modules and a 16x4 version is offered for applications requiring lower numbers of thru paths.
Update to our PXI Large Matrix BRIC Modules - September 2014
The PXI Large Matrix BRIC Update (40-565B) – now with 20% density improvement over previous models, these high-density large matrix modules able to switch up to 2 Amps at 150VDC/100VAC. These PXI matrix BRIC modules are available in 2, 4, or 8-slot PXI sizes for most high-performance PXI matrix requirements. With this high level of switching density, these BRIC matrix modules allow a complete functional ATE system to be housed in a single 3U PXI chassis.
Also available on these matrix modules is Pickering’s Built-In-Relay-Self-Test (BIRST) tool. BIRST provides a quick and simple way of finding relay failures within the BRIC module.
Update to our PXI Microwave Multiplexer Modules - September 2014
The PXI Microwave Multiplexer Update (40-785B) – now featuring LED indicators to aid in test system development and debugging, these are single or dual 6-channel multiplexers with relays mounted on the front. These multiplexers are designed for switching 50Ω signals up to 40GHz. The single slot version can support up to three supplied remotely mounted multiplexers.
The 40-785B microwave multiplexer range is compatible with any PXI chassis and can be fitted to PXI hybrid slots in a PXIe chassis. It can also be used in Pickering Interfaces LXI Modular chassis’ for users preferring control via an Ethernet port.

The PCI RTD Simulator Card (50-262) has six resistance
channels each with exceptional stability and fine setting resolution. It is available in two resistance ranges
designed for the simulation of PT100 and PT1000 temperature sensors.
The PCI Strain Gauge Simulator Card (50-265) has six resistance bridge channels and is available in four resistance ranges. Each channel offers very fine resistance adjustment and is designed for the simulation of strain gauge bridges.
PXI and PCI Resistor and Relay Modules - April 2014
Introducing the PCI Programmable Resistor & Relay Card (50-293) and the PXI Programmable Resistor & Relay Module (40-293). These cards and modules offer lower densities and low-cost solutions for resistor simulation with 12 versions having resolutions from 0.25 Ohm to 2 Ohm and channel counts of either 2 or 4. In addition, each version has the option of an additional 8 SPDT relays which can be used for other switching functions within a test system.
Expanded Range of PXI and PCI Precision Resistor Modules - April 2014
The PXI Precision Resistor Module (40-297) and PCI Precision Resistor Card (50-297)have been expanded to increase the versions offered from 6 to 42; each version offers users the choice of the number of resistor channels, resistance range, and the resistance setting resolution. Depending on the version the resolution is from 0.125 Ohm to 2 Ohm and resistor counts from 3 to 18. Resistor values up to 1.51M Ohm can be simulated and accuracy is 0.2%± resolution.

SPDT relay module 40-780A–
supports from 1 to 4 SPDT relays and is available in a variety of different frequency options from
12.4GHz to 65GHz - a 75Ohm 2.4GHz version is also available.
Microwave transfer switch 40-782A – supports either one or two transfer switches with frequency options of 18GHz, 26.5GHz and 40GHz.
Terminated SPDT microwave switch 40-781 – has an 18GHz frequency range and offers one or two relays and the option of internal or external terminations. All modules now include LED indication of a closed signal path.
PXI 10A Power Multiplexer Module - March 2014
The new PXI 10A power multiplexer (40-661) is available in a variety of configurations ranging from an 8 bank 4:1 multiplexer to a single 32:1 multiplexer. Each configuration is capable of hot switching up to 10A at 30VDC and has a maximum DC hot switch rating of 125VDC. AC signals up to 250VAC at 10A can be switched and for cold switching applications, the 40-661 is capable of withstanding 400VDC.
PXI 6GHz Multiplexers - October 2013
We are expanding our range of PXI 6GHz solid state RF switching solutions with the introduction of two new multiplexers. The 40-883-001 is a single 8:1 multiplexer and the 40-883-002 is a single 16:1 multiplexer. Each version uses solid state switches that ensure fast switch operation, highly repeatable performance and an indefinite service life when used within ratings. The multiplexers can handle up to +30dBm of signal power and frequencies from 10MHz to above 6GHz. Unused ports are automatically terminated to manage VSWR effects.
Upgraded LXI Modular Chassis - September 2013The upgrade has increased Ethernet interface speed to 1Gigabit from 100Mb, as well as an IP display that shows the IP address of the chassis. The LXI Modular Chassis provides an easy way of supporting our 3U PXI modules in an Ethernet-based LXI control environment. All of our PXI switching productsare supported the majority of our PXI instruments and power supply products. Our 60-102B chassis allows up to seven PXI modules while the 60-103B chassis allows up to 18 PXI modules.

PXI 16A Power Relay Module - September 2013
This new power relay module (40-161) is capable of switching currents up to 16Amp and voltages up to 300VDC/250VAC with hot switch power of 448W at 28VDC and 4000VA at 250VAC. Configurations include 16, 12, or 10 SPST, or 12 or 6 SPDT relays.
PCI Digital I/O Card - September 2013
The new 32-Channel Digital I/O card (50-412) is capable of driving high current loads and reading back the logical state of high voltage logic signals. The card provides 32 channels of digital output lines that can serve as high or low side drivers. Each channel is capable of sourcing 0.4A or sinking 0.5A at voltages up to 50V and has protection circuits that prevent over voltage, over current or thermal overload from occurring.
PXI Power Multiplexer - September 2013
The new power multiplexer module (40-651) is capable of hot switching up to 5A and 110VDC/250VAC with hot switch power up to 150W or 1250VA. Configurations are a single 48:1 MUX, a dual 24:1 MUX, a quad 11:1 MUX and an octal 5:1 MUX. The single and dual MUX models include an isolation relay in the common to reduce the cable load when the MUX is not in use.
High Density PXI Large 2 Amp Matrices - BRICs - July 2013
These new 2Amp BRICs (40-596, 40-597and 40-598) occupy 2, 4 or 8 slots of a PXI chassis. They provide three ranges of 1-pole matrix solutions with sizes from 58x6 to 464x6, 32x12 to 256x12, and 24x16 to 192x16 respectively, substantially increasing the density of 2A matrices compared to the competition.

This new BRIC (40-568) can occupy 2, 4 or 8 slots of a PXI chassis providing a range of 1-pole matrix solutions from 75x4 to 600x4, substantially increasing the density of 2A matrices compared to the competition. The product range uses high quality electro-mechanical relays to achieve a 2A switch rating and 60W power capability to voltages up to 200VDC/140VAC.

Lower density versions are also available to suit applications requiring smaller configurations with module specific low cost cable options for added cost savings.
