Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive of the European Union (WEEE)

The WEEE directive is a wide ranging piece of European environmental legislation which is one of a number of European directives which implement the principle of “extended producer responsibility”.

The broad aim of the WEEE directive is to address the environmental impacts of electrical and electronic equipment when it reaches the end of its life and to encourage its separate collection, subsequent treatment, re-use, recovery, recycling and environmentally sound disposal.

Pickering Interfaces is working with our European sales and support offices across the Union to implement the new regulations. Implementation dates vary across member states therefore please contact your local sales and support office for more details.

The regulations apply to all electrical and electronic equipment put on the European market after Aug 13th 2005. WEEE products fall into one of ten categories (and three sub-categories) according to the WEEE directive.

Pickering Interfaces products fall under category 9, Monitoring and Control Instruments.
