Controlling a PXI Chassis from a PCI PC and PCIe PC
Controlling a PXI Chassis from a PCI
By using our PCI to PXI Remote Control Interface Modules and Kits,
you are able to control your PC's PCI interface and a PXI chassis. The PCI to StarFabric module (51-921A) resides in one of the controllers PCI slots and provides two independent
serial interfaces—each capable of driving a separate PXI chassis. The StarFabric to PXI module (41-921A) resides
in slot 1 position and interfaces to the backplane of the PXI chassis.
The next image shows you a typical system configuration based on dual 51-921A modules:
These depict just a few configurations to control your PXI chassis from a PC, many are possible. These interfaces are only PCI to PXI (not PXIe or Hybrid chassis). The newer "A" versions of these controllers are now Windows 7 and later compatible, however, previous version can be reprogrammed if needed.

We also offer a PCIe to PXI Remote Control Interface Kit, by using this kit you get a seamless connection between a PC's PCIe slot and a PXI chassis. The kit is supplied with a PCIe Remote Control Interface Card (51-924-001) that can plug into any PC PCIe slot, a PXI Remote Control Interface Module (41-924-001) for insertion into Slot 1 of a PXI chassis and 3m lead to connect the two parts together. The interface uses a single lane PCIe connection from the PC to provide a software transparent link from the PC PCIe backplane to the PXI backplane.
The diagram below shows the Remote Control Interface Kit fitted into a controlling PCI and a PXI chassis, linked with the interface cable.
(Part number 41-924-001-KIT PCIe to PXI Remote Control Kit includes one 51-924-001 & one 41-924-001, additional 41-924-001 controllers are available separately).
You can also use two PCIe to PXI Remote Control Interface Kits to connect to two standard PXI chassis.
